We are Kindred

Kindred is a purpose-built space for creative individuals and organisations in Yarraville, Melbourne. We accommodate musicians, bands, photographers, designers, dancers, actors, artists, entrepreneurs, daring freelancers and more.

We provide band rehearsal rooms, co-working spaces, private studio suites, recording studio, film and photography studio, dance and yoga studio, bandroom, bar, cafe and function space available for hire.

First opened in 2005, we’ve always been privately owned and operated by artists. This could be why Lonely Planet listed us in their Top Ten Workspaces in The World in 2016. More recently, we were awarded the Maribyrnong City Council 2019 Civic Award – Arts Organisation.

Our office is open 9am – 5pm weekdays, the bandroom reception opens 5pm – midnight each week day and we are open 12pm – late on weekends. If you’d like to know more, shoot us a message, visit us in person at 3 Harris St, Yarraville, or call (03) 9689 9859.

Kindred Studios acknowledges the Marin-balluk clan from the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land our studios now operate on.

We pay our respects to their elders past, present and continuing.

Parking

Due to State and Local Government roadworks coinciding on Harris Street, there is currently limited parking available at Kindred Studios.

Please refer to the map for information regarding parking. There are some parks available on Whitehall Street, Hyde Street or within the Yarraville Gardens dog park.

Bands may use the driveway to load in/out music gear and equipment.

I'd like to come and have a look around Kindred, who do I talk to?

Our admin team! Feel free to pop in and say hello, or shoot us an email and let us know when you’re coming. Our office staff are here between 10am and 5pm on weekdays but if you can’t make it then, our front of house staff are here until midnight weekdays and between 11am and 6pm on weekends.

Is Kindred a not for profit or government funded organisation?

Nope. Kindred Studios is 100% privately owned and operated by artists.

We proudly offer our spaces to artists who allow us to continue to support Melbourne’s creative industries. At this stage, we do not receive any funding from arts bodies or the Government.

I don't work in the creative industries. Can I still rent a space at Kindred?

Are you a freelancer? That’s creative! We welcome entrepreneurs like you with welcome arms. If you feel our vibe, chances are we’ll feel yours. We’d love to have you.

Is Kindred wheelchair accessible?

Yes, certainly! None of our ground floor rooms have steps preventing access and we have an elevator for access to level 1.
